Energy of the Day
Monday, February 1, 2021 is a day for mastery. Master yourself so you can be more in tune with those around you. It will be easier for you to see all sides of a situation and to put your emotions aside to create peace. Use your intuition to communicate with others in a way that best suits them. Otherwise, the fear of losing someone else’s approval or the desire to be non-confrontational, may keep you from connecting. As you read into others’ needs make sure you also read into your own. It will take mastery to find solutions that address the deepest needs of everyone involved.

Master Your Emotions
You may be feeling more level-headed today on topics that normally create a strong emotional reaction. Use that sensible energy to help you determine the main cause of a particular emotion.
What topic do you typically have strong feelings on? Look deeply within yourself and ask yourself why you have such a strong emotional reaction.
Either write the question/answer series out for yourself or have someone ask you the questions and then answer verbally. Ask “What is something that gives me a strong emotional reaction?”then continue to ask “Why do I have that reaction?”or “Why is that happening?” over and over until you get to the belief that seems like the root of the strong emotion.
You may want to address social injustice or politics. But, here is a simple, every-day example:
What is something that gives me a strong emotional reaction?
I have a strong emotional reaction to my child being loud when my husband is asleep.
Why do I have that reaction?
Because I don’t want my husband to wake up before he’s ready.
Why do I have that reaction?
Because then he’ll be tired and grumpy and I’ll be upset.
Why do I have that reaction?
I’ll be grumpy because I’m too tired to not be affected by his energy.
Why do I have that reaction?
Because I haven’t been sleeping enough.
Why is that happening?
Because I haven’t been prioritizing my needs.
Why is that happening?
Because I care for everyone else first.
Why is that happening?
Because I think I can handle it.
I could keep going. But let’s stop the example there. In this example we got to the belief that the person could handle not taking care of herself (specifically not sleeping enough because she was caring for everyone else first). But, she experiences a strong emotional reaction toward her child so, she’s obviously not handling it well.
Next, change the belief statement: I need to take care of myself first so I can better respond to others.
Then decide to live into that new belief statement by taking an action: I will get more rest so I can be in better control of my reactions.
This is an important exercise because we often think that we’re justified in feeling the way we feel, but we don’t often look closely at why we feel the way we do. Looking at the why will help you create a more productive response than just strong emotion. In fact, the strong emotion will now be your personal reminder that there is something you have the power to change.
