Favorite pet picture: In honor of “National Toast Day”, meet Cinnamon Toast. This baby boy loves other dogs and playing outside. He’s especially affectionate in the morning, so if you like to wake to kisses, he’s the one for you. He’s currently being fostered through Two by Two Rescue. If you know his furever family, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite book quote: The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way by Wayne W. Dyer
Extend thoughts of kindness everywhere. Practice kindness toward Earth by picking up a piece of litter that’s on your path, or saying a silent prayer of gratitude for the existence of rain, the color of flowers, or even the paper you hold in your hand that was donated by a tree. The universe responds in kind to what you elect to radiate outward. If you say with kindness in your voice and in your heart, “How may I serve you?” the universe’s response will be, “How may I serve you as well?” It’s attractor energy. It’s this spirit of cooperation with all of life that emerges from the essence of intention. And this spirit of kindness is one that you must learn to match if connecting back to intention is your desire.
Random favorite: Blue Solar Water
If this sounds vaguely familiar, Blue Solar Water was mentioned last week. I first learned about this healing/cleansing elixir while listening to the audiobook Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More by Joe Vitale and Ihaleakala Hew Len, PhD. My husband got me a Ho’oponopono blue bottle and I tried it out. The idea is that when the sunlight shines through the blue glass into the water it enlivens the water and makes the water very healing for unhelpful subconscious programming. Bonus: I think it tastes and feels better than our normal filtered water.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
Question: You’re always talking about “surrender”. How do I do that?
Surrender is letting go. Life is hard when you try to control everything. But when you let go and allow good things to come to you, it becomes a lot easier.
The question is: HOW?!
It’s easy to go through life unconsciously handling and fixing and striving. The key is to be conscious of how you’re feeling and acting. Notice when you’re stressed. Are you trying to force something? If so, physically stop. Take a deep breath. Reset with a prayer: “Not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42b), an affirmation: “I trust that all things work together for my highest good.”, or a mantra: “Om Shanti Shanti Shanti”.
Every time you notice you’re stressed, stop and focus your mind on something that automatically puts your heart in a state of surrender. This can help train you to be in a state of surrender always.
Sometimes our plans are good but what is available to us is so much better than we could have ever hoped for. All it takes is for us to stop back-seat driving and allow ourselves to be taken to where we didn’t even know we wanted to go.
Surrender does not mean sitting back and never taking action. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t pursue challenging goals. On the contrary, surrender means acting on ideas and inspiration that fill your heart with joy and excitement. It means letting go of those things that don’t serve you so you have the ability to live a life that serves others in a way that lights you up. It means to keep doing what you’re doing, with integrity, when it’s time to ‘stay’ and to follow your heart when it’s time to ‘go’.
