Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #NationalFigWeek meet Fig. He’s an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. Fig is looking for a home with a dog his size that he can play with and learn from. He also needs patient people who can show him that humans can be loving. He’d also enjoy a big fenced-in backyard to play in. Fig is currently being cared for through Alachua County Animal Services. If you know Fig’s fur-ever family, “Share” this and introduce them!

Random Favorite: Card Readings
I do a personalized monthly energy reading on the first of the month for each of the Foundational Members (those who gave $120+ when signing up for a membership to this newsletter). I have a lot of fun with them! (And, I have to admit, that I like it when I get thoughtful emails about how the information I sent was used - which was one of the highlights of my week this week!) I’m so excited to be offering the same readings on my website so even if you’re not a Foundational Member, you can get a reading.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
& a Q
Question: Why do we crave things that aren’t good for us but resist things that are?
Let’s begin by asking ourselves what we think is good for us and WHY we think it’s good for us.
Often, we resist what we’ve been told is good for us because we don’t resonate with that thing. Our bodies will naturally choose the thing that is in our highest good, if it’s not distracted.
There was an experiment that involved pre-verbal babies with various nutritional needs. (This is coming from memory - I have no references here.) For example, one might have been lacking a bit of iron and another might have been a bit low on calcium. The experimenters put a variety of foods in front of each child. Each child naturally gravitated toward the food that addressed his/her specific needs. When their needs changed, they no longer chose those same foods. Nobody told that babies what to eat - they just intuitively new what they needed and they wanted that thing.
I imagine that if the experimenters tried to force the babies into eating something specific, whether it was in alignment with their needs or not, the babies would have resisted. Because, part of it is, nobody likes to be bossed around!
Here’s the tricky thing: Today, we’re bombarded with the opinions of others. We’ve got people shouting in our ears to “eat vegan” or “eat paleo” or telling us we should be running every day or drinking 8 glasses of water or sleeping a certain number of hours in a row. We stop listening to our inner voice and get confused by the noise.
Also, food today is engineered to be addictive. It’s got just the right amount of sugar, salt, and chemicals to make us want more and more. When the reward centers of our brains are so stimulated, it’s hard to make a balanced choice. Same with the lights from computers and phones - they make our bodies think it’s time to be awake when we might actually be feeling sleepy.
So, rather than attempting to attend to all the external stimulation, you need to get quiet. You may need to separate yourself from the noise and the chemicals and allow yourself to listen to your true needs. You might also need to dispel some of the health myths being fed to society and change your lifestyle to be in balance with your own rhythms.
For example: Science tells us to get 8 hours of sleep straight, with at least an hour of sleep occurring before midnight. But, what if we were designed to sleep 8 hours AND we thrive with 4 hours at a time and a 1-2 hour break in between? And what if the whole “early bird” and “night owl” thing was actually real - so that someone would always be awake to watch over and protect those who were sleeping? If you were the night owl, you would resist sleeping the way science tells you to sleep because it’s not in alignment with your nature. It’s not that you’re resisting what’s good for you. You might actually be resisting what someone else thinks is good for you - but it’s really not.
So how do we reset? We need to start stepping away from unnatural foods and habits. Going into nature and re-aligning your rhythms without all the noise could be helpful as well. Ask yourself what you need and then reset your lifestyle to accommodate it. Then, you’ll probably find that you welcome what is good for you and no longer need the other stuff.
If you’d like some support as you begin to live in alignment with your true nature, see the “Featured” section below. I’m looking for volunteers for my Realign with Your Nature consulting program.

Featured
This is a new section in the newsletter. I’ve finally got my website up! Each week, I’ll feature a product or service.
This is a 6-week program in which you’ll look at your lifestyle. We’ll discuss how you’re feeling out of alignment with yourself/the world, how you’re feeling in alignment with yourself/the world, and your lifestyle goals. (If you could make any changes in your life and the outcome would be good, what changes would you make?)
We’ll go over many aspects of your lifestyle including:
Schedule/Routine
Work/Purpose
Emotions
Sleep
Exercise
Relationships
Health
Fun
During a weekly call, we’ll discuss your goals and determine the next steps to take so that you can life the life your body and spirit were made to live.
Would you like to help me out?!
I need a few volunteers who would be willing to go through the program for free and give me feedback at the end. The time commitment is a 45 minute phone call during week 1 and a 30 minute phone call during the next 5 weeks (plus any time you spend working on your realignment). If you’d like to be involved, click the button below and fill out the form. I’ll contact you to schedule your sessions.
Be a part of it all!
