Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #FirePreventionWeek, meet Lola. This Dalmatian pup is active and playful. She is also deaf. Dalmatians were used in fire service when fire trucks were pulled by horses. (I love the book that’s linked right there.) The dogs would run with the horses as they pulled the pumper truck toward the fire. Then they would keep the horses calm while the fire fighters were fighting the fire. So, if you know someone who has horses (since Dalmatians and horses historically get along so well) and has the ability (and desire!) to care for a dog with specials needs, press “Share” and introduce them! Lola is currently being cared for through Dalmatian Rescue of SOFL.
Favorite Book Quote: Medicine for the Earth by Sandra Ingerman
"Many shamans say that we are dreaming the wrong dream. We live with the illusions that we are separate from nature, separate from the spiritual realms, and victims of our life and environment. These illusions are seeds that grow into plants of fear, anger, hate, despair, and darkness. It is time to weed out these plants of illusion from our garden and plant new seeds. . . . Let's dream a dream that embraces love, harmony, connection to all, and, most important, joy."
Random Favorite: Fire Safety Youtube
I found this video a while back, but it was so great that when I thought of #FirePreventionWeek, I thought of it. Scott and Camber invite the fire department over to do second story fire drills with their kids. So much fun! How cool would it be to have fire fighters come to your house and give your family a personalized training about what to expect, and how to stay safe, in a fire!? The empowerment they all must feel after practicing is amazing, I’m sure! The next best thing to preventing a fire is knowing what to do if one occurs.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
& a Q
Question: In the October 2, 2021 edition, you said to offer joy to people and things. I kinda get why I would send joy to people, but why would I send joy to inanimate objects?
Everything has energy!
Have you ever walked into a room where something bad has happened and it just felt creepy? I remember going to Alcatraz. It did not feel good in there. Some people think it feels bad because it’s haunted. Maybe it is, I don’t know.
What I do know is that the emotions and energy that were expressed when people were living on Alcatraz, stayed there. Alcatraz, the building and space, didn’t get energetically cleared out or cleaned up. So, the anger, hate, cruelty, guilt, and whatever else people felt, and whatever other energy they expressed while they were there, stayed there.
So, if strong lower vibrational emotions and actions can cause a place to feel creepy, I believe that strong higher vibrational energies (like love, joy, and peace) can cause places and things to feel good. I believe that consciously sending gratitude and love to your house, your car, or your computer on a regular basis can make them work better and need repairs less (though nothing is perfect) while doing the opposite might actually have the opposite effect.
Here’s another example: Imagine that you have a report that you’re supposed to be writing. Every time you think about it, you are filled with dread. You don’t enjoy it and you don’t want to write it. So you don’t. You procrastinate and the dread just keeps getting worse and worse. Now, imagine if you began to send joy to that report. Rather than increasing the energy of dread, it starts to melt away and resonate with joy. Now, you might not feel joyful doing the report, but at least the negative emotions/vibrations won’t keep building, which will make it easier to complete.
Now that you understand why it might be beneficial to send joy to objects, let’s try the exercise one more time!
Sit and close your eyes.
Think about something that makes you feel joyful until you begin to feel warm and happy. (If this is challenging for you, hold Citrine or sit in the sunlight and imagine that the stone or the sun are filling you with warmth and joy.)
When you’re all filled up, get up and go about your day.
Anytime you interact with anyone or anything, give a smile and imagine that you’re offering joyful warmth to that person or thing.
