Here it goes: We just moved to a place that is hot and humid and full of strange bugs. Some I love (like the all the amazingly different types of dragonflies and the cicadas) and some I would prefer didnโt fly into my car (like the huge wasp that decided to say hello while my family was getting into the car). Then there are the mosquitos. The whole family got a few squirts of this stuff before going to an outdoor event around sundown recently. No new bites! It works! And it smells OK too.

Question: How do you use gemstones and crystals?
First, Iโll answer the question of WHY to use these stones. They contain living energy. Each have different properties and can affect our own energy and teach us the lessons we need to learn. For example, rose quartz is related to the heart. It is said to help with physical heart issues such as tonifying the heart Qi (โcheeโ), or energy, and Blood and can help regulate the blood pressure. It can also help with the emotional aspects of the heart, helping us to connect with Love. In Chinese Medicine, the heart also has a relationship to reproduction through its connection to the Bao Mai so it is thought to help with hormonal issues.
I use gemstones in a variety of ways based on what is available at the moment. Here are a few ways I use them:
Meditation: Iโll pick a stone that corresponds to what I want to create more of or what I want to clear. I hold it in my hands, ask for the stoneโs support, and focus on what I want to receive or release. So, if Iโm having trouble accessing joy, I might spend a little time connecting with Citrine.
Stone Elixir: I choose a group of stones and water. I prepare the stones and the water then allow the water to take on the properties of the stones. That is how I create a Stone Elixir. Iโll put the Elixir on my body (usually a drop on my wrists or certain acupuncture points), in my bath water, or in my home cleaning sprays. Some Elixirs can also be added to my drinking water. Jewelry: Picking jewelry that contains the stones you most want to connect with is an easy introduction working with stones. My husband has a Snowflake Obsidian bracelet that Iโll borrow if Iโm going somewhere that I know will be stressful for me.
Home Decor: You can put stones around your home and ask that their energy either clears the space or fills the space, depending on the kind of stone and what you want it to do. Many people use big Amethyst cluster crystals as decorations. What they may not know is that Amethyst is a very peaceful stone and can impart peace on the surrounding area.
Wand: Selenite can come in stick-form. You can also find some very cool looking Selenite wands. It is a very purifying stone. If youโve come home from a hard day at work, or you feel like you take on other peopleโs emotions or energy, you can wave the Selenite stick around your body and imagine that it is clearing you of all energy and emotions that are not yours.
Just make sure to clear and charge the stones and make sure youโre clear about what you want the stones to help you with. Best wishes as you find your favorite ways to use them!
