A little note before we begin: The “Quick Healing Reset” that you got on Tuesday was a sample of the Typically Invisible Daily Energy Updates. Did you like it? If so, the “Be a Part of it All” section below will tell you how you can get that type of email daily.
3 Favs
Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #NationalRatCatchersDay (US), allow me to remind you to always keep your word and to introduce you to another kind of rat catcher: a rat terrier/toy fox terrier mix named Rusty. He is playful and affectionate and is looking for a quiet adults-only home with a fenced-in yard so he can enjoy the beautiful So-Cal weather. Rusty is currently under the care of Ken-Mar Rescue in Los Angeles. If you know of someone who is low-maintenance, and is looking for someone to share car rides and long (or not so long) walks with, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite Book Quote: Why Is God Laughing?: The Path to Joy and Spiritual Optimism by Deepak Chopra
How can you seek God if he’s already here? It’s like standing in the ocean and crying out, ‘I want to get wet.’ You want to get over the line to God. It turns out he was always there.” Francisco’s eyes began to gleam. “Grace comes to those who stop struggling. When it really sinks in that there’s nothing you can do to find God, he suddenly appears. That’s the deepest mystery, the only one that counts.
Random Favorite: New jammies.
It’s the simple pleasures in life. The new pajamas aren’t even mine! I’m looking at someone who is really cute, and who is wearing some really cute new jammies, and it makes me happy.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
& a Q
Question: Life is crazy right now. I’m doing my best just not to be crazy! How do I take better care of myself so I can take better care of my family?
Such a good question and one I’m sure that most people can relate to!
Let me ask you a question: What is it you know you need to do for yourself? Do that. Are kids screaming and hanging off of you? Do it in a different way. Just make whatever it is a priority in a way that doesn’t stress you out.
So, how does that work?
Think of the one thing your body/mind/soul are asking for in this moment. Yes…if you’re like me you need to drink more water, declutter your whole house, get some acupuncture, have some alone time with your husband, get a massage, get some exercise, eat better food, get more sleep, and do about a million other things to clear your brain. But, if you let go of all of that for a second and ask yourself, “What does my body/mind/soul need in this moment?”, what does it say?
Right now, mine is asking for a cup of herbal tea with honey. AND I have the ability to actually allow myself that luxury, right now! So, I’m going to take action on that!
OK. I’m back. The tea was lovely, by the way.
But what if you’re needing something and you don’t have the ability to get it for yourself in a non-crazy way? For example, sometimes I need to eat, but my responsibilities as a mom delay that necessity. Rather than get mad and frustrated and feel sorry for myself, I could take a deep breath and smile. I could reframe the situation in my mind. Kids screaming and pulling on me? Smile! I need something…sure! But their behavior shows that they need me - and that is beautiful. BUT, they also need me functioning my best. So, if that means I need to take a time out behind a baby gate and grab a bite of something (that I creatively and purposefully set aside for myself because this always happens), then I can give myself that permission. I can take that few moments away for a few bites of food (or a breath or a potty break or whatever it is I need in that moment) so I can be my best for my family. AND, I can do this without feeling, resentful, frustrated, angry, upset, or worried. In fact, as I do this, I can make it a point to connect with my inner peace. And I can do this as a way of showing love to myself and my family knowing that I’ll be less crazy when the moment is over. I can’t control the craziness around me; I can only choose to reconnect to the peace within me. And the most beautiful part about this is, the more I’m able to connect with my internal peace in that moment, the more my peace affects my surroundings and my family. And that is how everything becomes more peaceful.
Note: As I was deciding on a quote for today, I came across Deepak Chopra’s new book Total Meditation. In an interview about it, he calls this a “radically new” approach to meditation and has named it “total meditation”. But it’s really just noticing when you’re starting to feel disconnected and then reconnecting. It’s not radical or new and it doesn’t have to be hard. All it takes is noticing when you need a moment and then intentionally taking it. Best wishes!
Be a part of it all!
