3 Favs
Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #PetFireSafetyDay, meet Fireball. This sweet girl is still learning her manners when walking, but loves to give kisses and will sit on command. She is currently being cared for by The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach Inc. If you know her fur-ever family, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite Book Quote: 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do: Take Back Your Power, Embrace Change, Face Your Fears, and Train Your Brain for Happiness and Success by Amy Morin
When you learn to let go of the details you can’t control, the amount of time and energy you’ll be able to devote to the things you can control will give you the ability to accomplish incredible feats.
Random Favorite: Barley Tea
If you go to a Korean restaurant you might be served water that looks a little off. It’s actually a very weak barley tea. It’s so refreshing! I got a box of it and made some to drink daily to keep my family hydrated as we drove through 117 degree heat on a car trip recently. It wasn’t until I got home and forgot to drink it (or much water) that I realized how much good the barley tea had done for us. It’s also kind of nice for an upset tummy.

& a Q
Question: How do I stay true to myself when I’m around someone who has different beliefs than me and makes me feel wrong about everything.
That’s a hard situation (and one I completely understand and am working on myself). Here’s what I plan to do:
Ground myself.
I have a number of grounding exercises I do regularly (but often forget to do in scenarios like the one in the question). So, here are a few I’m going to be mindful about doing next time I’m around such a person:

Say thank you.
That person is giving me their best. But sometimes their best is not what I actually need. So, I can accept the gift gracefully. I can say thank you. Then, I can decide if I want to put in in my heart or give it to God.
Act in alignment with my intentions.
I have set goals and intentions for how I want my life to be. Often, it is those goals and intentions that I am being made to feel wrong about because they differ from what someone else would want for me. But it is me that has to live my life. So, I need to be very clear about what my goals and intentions are before I come in contact with this person so that I can continue to act in alignment with them even when someone is warning me not to.
Release control
I can’t control how someone else feels. All I can do is gracefully accept what they have to offer and then choose how to act. I am not responsible for making the other person be in alignment with my goals and intentions or like my actions. But, I can be clear and firm and kind. Often, this whole situation arises because of the other person’s fear for me. So, my groundedness and trust in myself might just help the other person be less afraid. But again, I’m not responsible for that either. I am only responsible for my emotions and actions and remembering that I can’t please everyone all the time (and that’s OK).
Best wishes as you stand in your power and follow your heart.
How do you walk in your power around people who have the ability to make you feel wrong?
Be a part of it all!
