Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #NationalMuttDay, meet Muttley. There’s not much information about Muttley except that he’s “Friendly, Affectionate, Playful, Brave, Protective”. He’s currently being cared for through Heartland Humane Society. If you know Muttley’s fur-ever family, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite Book Quote: Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
“Gratitude unleashes the freedom to live content in the moment, rather than being anxious about the future or regretting the past.”
Random Favorite: Rest days
We have a rule in our house: For every day someone has a fever, they must stay home for a rest day. We’ve been enjoying keeping our bodies healthy and strong this week - and all the snuggles, books, gentle walks, and hot tea that come with that. (Remember: A fever is one of the most healthy responses that one can have to a typical bug. The fever means your body is strong! But, after expending so much energy on a fever, it’s good to take some recovery time.)

& a Q
Question: I’m getting stressed because I often get gifts that I don’t want. How can I be a better gift receiver?
I hear you! Gifts are not my prominent love language. But I am in relationship with several people who are gift-givers at heart and I understand that sometimes (to people who don’t place a high value on gifts) gifts can be perceived as a burden.
So, look at the gift as energy rather than looking the thing itself. What energy are they doing their best to give you? What energy are they gifting themselves as a result of giving you that particular gift? That might help you understand and appreciate the gift better. It will also inform your decision about what to do with the gift - use it, throw it away, regift it, or donate it. You could even sell it, or return it, and buy what you actually want or need.
This line of thinking may not be available to you at the moment you’re receiving the gift so just see the gift as a love offering. Look at the person in the eyes and say thank you with your most loving smile. Feel gratitude for that person being in your life rather than focusing on the gift itself.
Best wishes to you as you navigate the gift-giving season.
