Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #SwallowsDepartFromSanJuanCapistranoDay, I’m introducing another kind of sparrow that is waiting for a departure: Captain Jack Sparrow. This big guy is three years old. He was brought into the shelter by the police and he’s now waiting for a strong, active, fun owner (one who will play with him and help him with manners) to take him away to his fur-ever home. He’s been under the care of Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for about two months now. If you know his fur-ever family, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite Book Quote: Dying to be Me by Anita Moorjani
“When we're true to ourselves, we become instruments of truth for the planet. Because we're all connected, we touch the lives of everyone around us, who then affect others. Our only obligation is to be the love we are and allow our answers to come from within in the way that's most appropriate for us.”
Random Favorite: Cooler Weather
It was cool for just a few days this week but it was enough to get me excited for the changing of the seasons and the warm, nourishing foods that will come as a result.

& a Q
Question: You only have one life to live. So how do I make mine count?
I actually don’t believe that we have only one life to live. I believe we live many lives in which we choose our bloodlines and our families and our hardships.
BUT I do believe that I have only one life to live in this beautiful body that I’m currently in - and all the gifts and challenges that come from living in this time, place, and person. I believe I chose to be me because there was something I wanted to do that I could only do by being me right now. There must have been something I wanted to learn that I could learn best by being the person I am right now. That is an amazing gift and a beautiful opportunity that I don’t want to squander.
It sounds like you don’t want to miss your opportunity either.
So, how do we make this life count?
Accepting who you are, and the world you’re in right now, as something you chose specifically so you could live out your purpose, is the first step to making this life count.
Then ask yourself: “What do I have to offer others because of my gifts, the challenges I’ve faced, the passions I possess, or the situation I’m in?” If your only answer is that you know how to be kind to others or you know how to be loving then I think you’ve found a very powerful reason for living. If you make those things your priority every day then your life will count. If you fail and learn as you go, then your life will count. If you struggle but you desire to learn, then your life will count. If you find a specific thing that brings you joy to offer to the world then your life will count.
You matter.
You chose to be you in this time for some reason. So use your body, your personality, and your life to learn something for yourself or make a difference for someone else. It all counts.
