Kaya & Why should I even bother with things I can’t touch and feel?

3 Favs
Favorite Pet Picture: Today is #NationalWildlifeDay and I’m featuring Kaya. She is a wolf at Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. According to the organization’s Web Developer, “Kaya is the greatest wolf in the history of wolves”! She used to live at an exotic animal sanctuary in California and she was timid and terrified of people. After moving to her new home, she’s learned to enjoy certain types of people. She spends her day running the fence with her neighbors, spending time with her roommate Obi, and redecorating their home by moving their enrichment “furniture” around. Though wolves have been taken off of the endangered species list, they’re not safe from extinction as wolves are considered a nuisance to developers (but are vital to keeping their habitats healthy). You can take a quiz over at Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary to find out which wolf the stars pair you with!
Favorite Book Quote: Anatomy Of The Spirit by Caroline Myss
“Again, we all have negative feelings, but not all negativity produces disease. To create disease, negative emotions have to be dominant, and what accelerates the process is knowing the negative thought to be toxic but giving it permission to thrive in your consciousness anyway. For instance, you may know you need to forgive someone, yet you decide that remaining angry gives you more power. Remaining obsessively angry makes you more likely to develop a disease because the energy consequence of a negative obsession is powerlessness. Energy is power, and transmitting energy into the past by dwelling on painful events drains power from your present-day body and can lead to illness.”
Random Favorite: Exercise Snacks
I have to admit that I sometime eat my emotions. OK, I may have eaten a LOT of cookies (and a few donuts) in the last six months. This week I was looking through the book The Energy Paradox: What to Do When Your Get-Up-And-Go Has Got up and Gone by Steven R. Gundry, MD. While I don’t think every part of every “health program” is perfect for everybody, I did love the part about “energy snacks”. Taking one minute to do squats (my exercise of choice), planks, jogging in place, or sit-ups rather than having a food snack (or in my case, making a choice about the snack) has been very empowering. I find that I’m more likely to choose water than that chocolate bar in the fridge when I have a little exercise snack before deciding if I want the food snack.

& a Q
Question: Why should I even bother with things I can’t touch and feel?
I suppose that’s a perfect question for a newsletter called “Typically Invisible”! Why should we attend to the things that we can’t see or that don’t seem real because we can’t touch or feel them?
I often encourage people to pay attention to their five senses. Paying attention to what you see, hear, taste, smell, and feel with your skin allow you to stay present and be in your body. That’s what we came to this Earth to do - experience life through a body.
But it’s also important to be aware those things we can’t see or touch as well because we CAN feel them! We feel them with our intuition, our emotions, and our body.
For example, have you ever walked into a room and knew that everyone was grumpy and it bummed you out? Nobody had to say anything but you just knew intuitively - and it affected your emotions and perhaps made your body tense up? That is one example of how energy affects us.
We are made of energy and so is everything else. Just like dropping a rock into a pool of water will create ripples, so will a shift in the energy.
A lot of times we focus on protection because there is a lot of undesirable energy out there that affects us. However, did you know that a little bit of high-vibrational energy (like love, joy, and peace) are more powerful, and affect others more strongly, than a lot of low vibrational energy - like hate, fear, or guilt? Being aware of the energy we’re putting out can have a strong impact on the world around us. Being aware of the energy around us helps us to be more in control of our own energy.
Best wishes as you embrace being aware of those things that are typically invisible!
