Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of #PurpleHeartDay I’d like to introduce you to Ziggy AND encourage you to learn how you can honor those who are recipients of the Purple Heart. The US military only honors humans with the Purple Heart at this time, but there are organizations who would like to do more for the K-9 heroes of our military. USWarDogs.org is one such organization. They have a Service Medal Program for dogs who are retiring out of the military, like Ziggy. They also send care packages to deployed Military Working Dogs and pay for drug prescriptions, specialized vet care, wheelchairs, fitted 3-D sight enablers, and financial support for end of life care and cremations for retired MWDs. Random Favorite: Walking on the grass first thing in the morning
I have been starting most days this week by walking barefoot in my backyard. I feel so grateful to be able to spend a little time connecting my body with Earth, breathing fresh air, and enjoying early (or not so early) morning light. It gives me a sense of peace and invigorates me. I can actually feel my feet and legs start to tingle (in a warm, comfortable way) as the healing energy exchange occurs between my body and Earth. I’ve also started enjoying this practice with others in the family and whether I’m alone in stillness or enjoying an exuberant morning, its all very nourishing to my body, mind, emotion, and spirit.

Question: I just realized I’ve been believing lies about myself that my family has been telling me for years. Lies like I’m weak or not good at certain things. I feel that I’ve been living into these lies for years but that I don’t actually believe them myself. How can I start being the person I believe I am?
Congratulations on coming to this realization.
Being the person you believe you are is as simple as connecting with that person in all you do. When you have a choice to make, connect with that person. When you’re sitting doing nothing, connect with that person. When you’re doing your work in the world, do it as that person.
Connect with who you truly are by closing your eyes and remembering a time you’ve been the person you believe yourself to be or visualize yourself being that person. Know you are that person.
Let them believe whatever they want about you. That’s not your business. You don’t need to be upset about it. They have put you in that box to keep themselves safe. Let them have that. But you can be whoever you want to be - including your best self.
Also, give yourself grace for acting in alignment with others’ beliefs. Sometimes it’s hard to break habits. But remember, it’s just a habit and habits can be relearned.
When you finally give yourself permission it will be easier to be who you are than who you’re told to be.
