Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of National Jelly Bean Day meet Jelly Beans AKA Beans. She’s just a baby so she’s still working on potty and crate training. Blue-eyed Beans is being cared for by Evergreen Animal Protective League. If you know Ms. Jelly Beans’ fur-ever family, pass this along and introduce them! (Also, rather than participating in National Jelly Bean Day by eating store-bought jelly beans, you might want to try this recipe from Wellness Mama instead.)
Favorite Book Quote: Diana, Herself: An Allegory of Awakening by Martha N. Beck
You are consciousness dressed in form, my love. Consciousness is divine. Matter is divine. Creation is divine. Everything is divine. Are you somehow the only exception?
Random Favorite: The Gathering Room
I was first introduced to Martha Beck a couple of years back when I listened to her book: Expecting Adam. It was full of magic. Not the witches and spells kind of magic, but that kind that comes with miracles, angels, and the wisdom that the soul of baby can bring to a mother. I’ve since listened to a few of her other books, but it’s been awhile since she’s crossed my path. This week she showed up again. I’ve listened to several of her Gathering Room videos in which she talked about magic and miracles in a logical and fun way. I’ve been so inspired to invite more everyday magic into my life!

& a Q
Question: What are angels?
I was asked this question weeks ago and have been putting off answering it because I have no idea what angels are. But, I was inspired to answer the question tonight so I’ll meditate and see what I come up with.
Angels are your helpers. They are a specific from of being created by the Creator to help and support you. They come in many different forms. They are both physical and non-physical. They inspire others to do their work. They are not the same as spirit guides, though a spirit guide might show up to a person looking like the religiously popularized “angel” just because it makes their help easier to accept by certain people. That’s not to say that spirit guides are deceptive - they just take the form that their student is most comfortable with. Angels can be called upon in times of need. There have been many experiences of angels.
Martha Beck details one story in her book Expecting Adam in which her life was saved by a fully-physical person who later did not show up on camera. I’ve heard the story of another woman who was walking down a dark street and saw some men who did not look safe. She prayed to Archangel Michael to protect her as she walked past. The men did not bother her. These men were later interviewed by police and confessed that they had indeed wished to do harm, but they hadn’t had the opportunity because they hadn’t seen a woman walking alone (as she had been). They saw a woman accompanied by an intimidating looking man. I don’t know if this story is true. I don’t even know where I first heard it, but I’ve heard it multiple times. That’s how angels work.
As I meditated on what an angel would want us to know, this is what came to me:
You are so loved. You are loved more than you can ever know and you have so much more support on the other side than you can ever imagine. Call on us. We make miracles happen. We are available to you because we love you. We want you to know that you are of love. It saddens us when you become disconnected. It is very easy to reconnect. Touch your feet to the earth, feel the sun on your skin, and breathe the air into your lungs. This connects you to your body. Then feel the peace that surrounds you. This connects you to your soul, allowing you to be more open to experiencing our love. Connect to a love that you recognize and you will more easily connect with the love that we send. We amplify the good work you do in the world and dampen the negativity. Keep doing your good work. We are with you. Amen.
I still don’t know what an angel actually is, but I know they are good. And I know that the kids in my family have AMAZING guardian angels. I have recognized their work on many occasions - though I’ve never actually see one. I am continually thankful for their work in our lives.
