Favorite Pet Picture: This week, in honor of those who had served our country, I’d like to feature an organization. Did you know it costs over $50,000 to prepare one dog to be a service dog? America’s VetDogs, through the donations they receive, provide these incredibly powerful companions to active military, veterans, first responders, and organizations who work with the military for free. A Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever (typically) will be taught to be a Guide Dog for the blind or visually impaired, a Service Dog for the physically disabled or those with PTSD, a Seizure Response Dog, or a Military Facility Dog. I have no doubt that these dogs not only make life more enjoyable, but save lives. If it feels right, you can donate directly through their Facebook Page (which is where I found this beautiful picture). Just find the picture of this beauty and push the “Donate” button. If you feel that you would benefit from one of these dogs, thank you for your service and you can apply here.
Favorite Book Quote: Words on Fire by Jennifer A. Nielsen
The priest gestured around him. “This church has stood for over one hundred years, outlasting war and fire and the ravages of nature. But it faces a new enemy now, a tsar who insists we believe in his God. At first, he politely invited us to abandon this place and gather in his own cathedrals. When we refused, he tried to lure us away through rewards and bribery. Now, when all else fails, he intends to force us out.” The priest took a deep breath. “The soldiers among us have new orders, to destroy our churches and our relics. If they cannot remove the people from the church, they will simply remove the church and the people will have nowhere else to go for worship. One day soon, they will come for this place. The only weapon I have to stop them is a people who feel powerful enough to stand between a Cossack soldier and the doors of this building. And how do I make them feel powerful?”
“You give them books,” I whispered.
Random Favorite: Historical Fiction
My family and I have been reading historical fiction together, which makes us even more eager to learn about the events that inspired the stories. It also makes for great discussions - comparing then to now, what would you do, etc.
An Extra Random Favorite: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor’s TED Talk
OK…I don’t usually do this but I just had to add another one! I was doing a quick search for an answer to question that came up while answering the question below. I found a TED Talk that beautifully describes the peace and connectedness that is possible when we engage with our right-brain and give our left-brain a little break.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
& a Q
Question: How do I manifest when I can’t focus on what I want because I keep getting upset about the bad stuff?
First, please understand that your emotions are powerful. They teach you a lot about your needs, your desires, and your purpose. Listen to what they have to tell you. But it is hard when you’re facing a challenge and you’re so upset. Here’s the deal about emotions: they only stick around for about 90 seconds if you allow yourself to feel them. If you try to bury them they they can’t move through and out. Does that mean that if you’re angry you need to express it by yelling at everyone you see? No. It means you can acknowledge to yourself that you’re angry. You can be ok with being angry. You can choose not to talk to anyone for a little bit - go to the bathroom and just feel angry for a few seconds. What will probably happen after that is a little voice will come into your head. That voice is your higher self. It will provide you comfort and wisdom. Feeling that feeling will often be followed by creativity and solutions.
Once you let yourself experience whatever you’re experiencing in the moment - say thank you. You don’t even have to feel gratitude. Just say thank you - for the anger, the cause of the anger, or for nothing in particular.
Saying thank you clears the energy and allows you to shift into a vibration of gratitude.
You are manifesting all the time - your thoughts are becoming reality all the time just like characters in a book become real when you read them. If you’re angry all the time, you’ll create more to be angry about. But, the trick is manifesting from the vibration of gratitude because then you’ll create more to be grateful for. You don’t need to make vision boards or write a gratitude list every day. Those things can actually encourage negative thinking if you’re already down. So, just say thank you, over and over, and watch as those things your heart truly desires come to life.
You might say: “Positive thinking won’t get me anywhere!”. You’d be right! When you’re stuck in negativity, you’re just stuck. You’re probably not taking any action. But when you’re in the vibration of gratitude, it’s much easier to take actions that are in alignment with your best self. THAT will get you somewhere.
Please note that the body’s reactions to normal emotions and those associated with PTSD are different. If you’d like me to elaborate on that, please leave a comment to let me know - I’ll have to brush up on some research to answer. My guess is that, rather than 90 seconds, PTSD (which is a physical brain injury) causes things to go on “REPLAY” over and over. I’ve already put the question to Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor who initially made the finding that the biochemical processes underlying emotion last 90 seconds.
Best wishes!

This is a new section in the newsletter. I’ve finally got my website up! Each week, I’ll feature a product or service. OK…this one was from last week, but I wanted to leave it up in case someone else would like to volunteer to try it out for FREE!
This is a 6-week program in which you’ll look at your lifestyle. We’ll discuss how you’re feeling out of alignment with yourself/the world, how you’re feeling in alignment with yourself/the world, and your lifestyle goals. (If you could make any changes in your life and the outcome would be good, what changes would you make?)
We’ll go over many aspects of your lifestyle including:
Schedule/Routine
Work/Purpose
Emotions
Sleep
Exercise
Relationships
Health
Fun
During a weekly call, we’ll discuss your goals and determine the next steps to take so that you can life the life your body and spirit were made to live.
Would you like to help me out?!
I need a few volunteers who would be willing to go through the program for free and give me feedback at the end. The time commitment is a 45 minute phone call during week 1 and a 30 minute phone call during the next 5 weeks (plus any time you spend working on your realignment). If you’d like to be involved, click the button below and fill out the form. I’ll contact you to schedule your sessions.
Be a part of it all!
