Favorite pet picture: Ollie is a playful and energetic lab mix puppy. This little guy is looking for a home with experienced parents and maybe other dogs. He may have been mistreated so he’s going to need some extra loving care to build his confidence. He’s currently with Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation. If you know his forever family, pass this along and introduce them!
Favorite book quote: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by Deepak Chopra
If you could start children right from the beginning with this thought, you’d see the effect it has on their lives. In fact, I did this with my own children. Again and again, I told them there was a reason why they were here, and they had to find out what that reason was for themselves. From the age of four years, they heard this. I also taught them to meditate when they were about the same age, and I told them, “I never, ever want you to worry about making a living. If you’re unable to make a living when you grow up, I’ll provide for you, so don’t worry about that. I don’t want you to focus on doing well in school. I don’t want you to focus on getting the best grades or going to the best colleges. What I really want you to focus on is asking yourself how you can serve humanity, and asking yourself what your unique talents are. Because you have a unique talent that no one else has, and you have a special way of expressing that talent, and no one else has it.
What if more people not only told their children this, but also asked themselves the same question every day?
Random favorite: Work dates. I have to admit that my husband and I haven’t been out alone in quite some time. Our family goes on family dates. But, I do like a little alone time with the man I married. So, sometimes, after bedtime, we meet on the couch. We sit next to each other and do computer work. There may also be a few bites of some type of indulgence involved as well. No, it’s not the most romantic thing in the world. But that’s not our season of life right now. And who needs romance when you have someone you enjoy touching knees with while typing up a report or a newsletter?!

Question: What is the one most impactful meditation you do?
Any time I’m being conscious of my thoughts, I think it’s impactful. But the most impactful meditation I’m currently doing is one in which I clear and refill my energy. I clear my energy of stuff that no longer serves my highest good. I also clear my energy of other peoples’ stuff that I may have picked up along the way. Then I call back any energy I may have leaked or let go of. I mix that energy with energy from Heaven and refill myself. I also call back the pieces of my soul that I may have put away for safe-keeping.
Why is that the most impactful? Because it resets me so I can function at my best. No amount of my prayer, meditation, or action is going to be as powerful if I am not as clear as possible. So, before I do any work - prayer, meditation, energy work, healing - I clear and refill.
This is a great meditation for those who are really affected, emotionally and physically, by other people’s problems and the injustices of the world. I gave a description of this exercise in the Daily Energy Update for January 17, 2021 if you’d like to try it out.
A close second would be the 3 Breath Meditation. It is so easy but so powerful. Most of us live our lives breathing only from the tops of our lungs. This not only perpetuates the stress we’re under but enhances it. Breathing deep into your belly shifts you from the fight/flight/freeze state of mind into a more calm mindset. Functional MRI (fMRI) studies have shown that when people stop frequently throughout the day and take breaths deep into their lower belly, it can completely rewire the brain. I’ve been feeling a bit reactive lately so I’ll be setting my timer and doing this every 15 minutes today. I gave a description of this exercise in the Daily Energy Update for December 22, 2020 if you’d like to join me in this today.
