Favorite Pet Picture: In honor of National #ReptileAwarenessDay allow me to introduce you to Scramble. (S)he is a Leopard Gecko who is being cared for by an Exotics Rescue Sanctuary in Modesto, CA. (S)he’s really cute in this picture, but it doesn’t show the absolutely beautiful colors on the rest of her/him. Click on Scramble’s name to see more pictures. If you know the person who is ready to give Scramble a home, click “Share” and introduce them!
Favorite Book Quote: I have not read this book, but I like many of the quotes from Rewire Your Brain: Think Your Way to a Better Life by John B. Arden.
“Not only does behavior change the structure of the brain through neuroplasticity; just thinking about or imagining particular behaviors can change brain structure as well.”
Random Favorite: Feedback
I once saw a meme on social media that talked about how authors are insecure creatures and it encouraged people to contact their favorite author to tell them how they feel because it would mean so much to that person.
Well, I totally get it. When I put stuff out there and hear nothing back, I can go two ways:
1. I can trust that my work is getting to the right people and I can have faith and gratitude. Or…
2. I can go on a downward spiral thinking that my work is a waste of time.
I try to stick with the first option most of the time, but, when I’m tired and grumpy I occasionally indulge in the second for a few minutes.
Yesterday I got feedback about one of my elixirs. I hadn’t heard back from this person (because she thought she already texted me) so I figured it wasn’t useful to her and she didn’t want to tell me. BUT, she said that it was not only helping her A LOT, it also had the unexpected “side-effect” of helping with some other major issues that she was experiencing!
I was so thrilled that we had an impromptu dance party in the living room (without music but with plenty of whoo-hoos and high fives all around)!
I also like the other type of feedback too - because it helps me know what’s not working so I can make it better.
What were some of your favorite things this week?
& a Q
Question: Can I stay present with a mundane task but not put all my energy into it?
This question actually came up for me when I was doing a card reading. The guidance was for this person to use minimal energy when it came to tasks that were not directly connected to her heart’s highest priority. I was confused. It seems to me that in order to stay present, you need to put your whole self into the task. So I’m wondering, what’s the difference? Is there something we can all learn from this guidance?
I’ll meditate a bit and see what I come up with…
You can be fully present without leaking all your energy. It depends on how you approach the task. If you approach it with joy and gratitude then you utilize just enough energy to get the job done. However, if you approach the task with resistance or stress then you start leaking energy. You’re not actually using your energy to address the task but the way you’re thinking about it is draining your energy. When you’re leaking energy, you’re not exactly present. Your focus is more on resistance.
So, if you want to shift from resistance into presence, all you need to do is take a deep breath, smile, and do what feels the easiest - what fills like the bare minimum. That will ease the stress and then you will stop leaking energy and have enough available to shift your perspective. As Wednesday’s newsletter said: “Having the ability to shift your perception of an experience means you have the power to change your reality.”

This is a new section in the newsletter. I’ve finally got my website up! Each week, I’ll feature a product or service.
This week I have an announcement: I just became an affiliate of Mountain Rose Herbs. Their focus is on being organic, sustainable, and utilizing ethical sourcing practices. This is where I buy my blue tincture bottles. They also have organic spices, teas, herbs, tea sets, essential oils, and so much more fun stuff. I’m really excited to try out the Baby Herbal Chest Rub I just ordered. It’s supposed to be gentle enough for a baby but effective enough for the whole family.
Being an affiliate just means that if you get to their website through my link, I get a percentage of the sale (at no extra cost to you). Which means that I can put a few extra pennies toward my work, our family’s education expenses, and whatever else while also introducing you to an excellent company. Win-win-win!!!
Be a part of it all!
